Which Alabama colleges are the most selective? An HBCU tops the list
The most selective college in Alabama is Tuskegee University, according to a recent news report.
The Business Journals analyzed schools based on school acceptance and matriculation rates as reported to the U.S. Department of Education. The matriculation rate is the percentage of undergraduate students who applied and enrolled.
Among schools with at least 3,000 applications for the 2023 fall semester, Tuskegee had an acceptance rate of 31.4% and a matriculation rate of 23.3%.
At the historically Black college, 11,742 students applied, 3,690 were accepted and 859 enrolled that semester.
The second most selective college was Auburn University, with an acceptance rate of 50.5% and a matriculation rate of 24.4%.

Nationally, Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is the most selective school in the country, with a 3.5% acceptance rate and an 83.7% matriculation rate. The study also revealed women are enrolling and graduating from college at higher rates than men.
