Which Alabama colleges are the most liberal? See the list

The University of North Alabama is the most liberal college in the state – and among the most liberal in the country – according to rankings released by Niche.com.

The college rankings site named the Florence campus No. 25 most liberal in the country in its latest rankings. Academy of Art University in San Francisco is the most liberal. (Curious about the most conservative colleges? See that list here).

According to the college rankings site, the most liberal, politically, schools in Alabama also include:

  • Spring Hill College
  • Alabama State University
  • Jacksonville State University
  • Alabama A&M University
  • University of Alabama – Birmingham
  • Troy University
  • Oakwood University
  • University of South Alabama

The site determines the rankings by asking students to describe their own political beliefs and the political beliefs on campus as a whole.

Niche.com is not the only site students and families use to rank colleges and universities. Niche depends on students self-reporting their responses for its methodology, which may explain why campuses with large student populations end up at the top.
