Where does Alabama’s 2025 recruiting rank before start of 2024 season?
The offseason is finally coming to an end for Alabama football. At 6:05 p.m. CT Saturday, the Crimson Tide will face Western Kentucky to open the 2024 season, and the Kalen DeBoer era in Tuscaloosa.
DeBoer’s recruiting was a concern for fans when the former Washington head coach took over for the retired Nick Saban in January. So far, the new leader has calmed that worry, helping the Tide climb steadily up the recruiting rankings in the class of 2025.
As the actual football begins, here’s a final offseason glimpse at where Alabama stands for its next recruiting class, as of Thursday night.
What does the class look like so far?
So far, Alabama has 20 commitments in the class of 2025. Of those players, six are five-star prospects according to the 247Sports composite rankings, which take into account the ratings of other recruiting services.
DeBoer has learned heavily on his west coast ties since arriving in Tuscaloosa. Of the 20 commits, six hail from the state of California.
The highlights of the class included five-star quarterback Keelon Russell, who flipped his commitment from SMU. Other five-stars include offensive tackle Ty Haywood, wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, cornerback Dijon Lee, running back Akylin Dear and linebacker Darrell “Duke” Johnson.
Where is Alabama ranked on the 247Sports composite?
The 247 composite has Alabama No. 2 in the nation. The Crimson Tide’s 2025 class sits behind only Ohio State’s.
Besides the Buckeyes, the rest of the 247 composite top five is all SEC. LSU sits one spot behind Alabama, followed by Georgia and Auburn.
The league’s domination of the recruiting rankings continues until the No. 10 spot, which is held by Notre Dame. After Auburn, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma fill out the rest of the top 10.
Where does On3 Sports rank Alabama?
Just like 247, On3 has the Crimson Tide’s 2025 class ranked second. Once again, Ohio State sits in the top spot, with 25 commitments in the class so far.
The rest of the top five is exactly the same as the 247 composite. On3 does have one other Big Ten school in the top ten, with Oregon sitting in seventh.
Miami also makes the list from outside of the SEC, coming in 10th. Notre Dame fell outside of the top 10, coming in 13th.
Where does Alabama’s class fall in Rivals’ rankings?

And once again, it was LSU in third, followed by Georgia, Auburn and Tennessee. Oklahoma fell seventh and Miami was eighth.
Rivals had Notre Dame the highest of any service, in ninth, with Texas A&M rounding up the top 10.
