Alabama’s roads are among the most deadly in the country, according to a recent analysis that looked at a variety of traffic conditions across the U.S.

The analysis from finn.com found Mississippi had the deadliest roads in the country with 25 road deaths per 100,000 people.

“The Magnolia State takes the unfortunate title of the state with the most dangerous roads with 25 deaths per 100,000 residents. Mississippi has a high proportion of rural highways, which are often more dangerous than urban roads thanks to higher speed limits and lack of police supervision, which could explain the high proportion of lethal accidents,” the website noted.

That was followed by Wyoming and Arkansas and Carolina (tied for third).

Alabama ranked seventh for the deadliest roads. The state reported 19 deaths per 100,000 residents with 852 fatal crashes.

4. South Carolina – 21 deaths per 100,000 residents

5. Montana – 20 deaths per 100,000 residents

6. New Mexico – 19 deaths per 100,000 residents

7. Alabama – 19 deaths per 100,000 residents

8. Louisiana – 18 deaths per 100,000 residents

9. Tennessee – 18 deaths per 100,000 residents

10. Kentucky – 17 deaths per 100,000 residents
