When will 2 injured Alabama WR commits return to field?
A pair of Alabama wide receiver commits injured last week will likely be back on the field before the end of their junior seasons.
Clay-Chalkville’s Jaylen Mbakwe left his team’s 25-20 victory over Oxford with an injury on Friday, while Foley’s Perry Thompson was injured early in the Lions’ 43-41 victory over Davidson.

Clay coach Drew Gilmer told AL.com on Monday that the Cougars are hoping to get Mbakwe back by the first week of the playoffs. The Cougars (7-1) play at Shades Valley on Friday. They won the Class 6A title a year ago, defeating Hueytown in the final.
Foley coach Deric Scott would not comment on Thompson’s status. However, Thompson posted on social media this weekend that he would be ready to play in this week’s game against Daphne. The 5-3 Lions could clinch the 7A, Region 1 title with a home win against the rival Trojans on Friday night.
Mbakwe (5-11, 170) is the state’s top-rated junior, according to the 247 composite rankings. He committed to Alabama in July. He has 16 receptions for 393 yards and 5 TDs this season.
Thompson (6-3, 202) is No. 8 in the junior rankings. He committed to Alabama in June. He has 65 receptions for 749 yards and 9 TDs this season.
