When is Mississippi getting its first Buc-ee’s? I-10 Gulf Coast location sets groundbreaking

For all the people wondering if would ever be built, a date is set for the groundbreaking for Buc-ee’s new travel center on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The day is less than a month away — on Sept. 13 — at the site near Pass Christian. Harrison County Supervisors and other local leaders will be invited to attend the ceremony at 11 a.m.

“Harrison County is a vibrant community with five thriving cities and stunning beaches,” said Stan Beard of Buc-ee’s. “It’s perfectly situated along I-10 between our Texas and Alabama stores and we can’t wait to be the best place to stop on the Mississippi Coast.”

Buc-ee’s will bring at least 200 full-time jobs to South Mississippi, the company said, with starting pay beginning well above minimum wage, along with full benefits, a 6% matching 401k and three weeks of paid vacation.

This is the first Buc-ee’s in Mississippi, at the Menge Avenue exit 24 off Interstate 10.

The travel centers are known for being huge, and this location will be a massive 74,000 square feet, with 120 fueling pumps and 24 EV charging stations.

“Buc-ee’s favorites including Texas barbeque, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries will all be available,” the company said in a press release.

Buc-ee’s also is knows for its clean restrooms, low gas prices, Buc-ee’s brand souvenirs and gifts.

The company was founded in Texas in 1982 and has 46 stores across Texas and the South. It’s now expanding west with groundbreakings in Colorado and Missouri.
