Trader Joe’s newest Alabama location has set an opening date.

The popular franchise will open its new store in Hoover at 1769 Montgomery Hwy., across the street from the Riverchase Galleria, at 9 a.m. on May 14.

There will be a brief ribbon cutting ceremony prior to opening.

The 9,500-square-foot store will be the third Trader Joe’s location in Alabama.

The store hired 30 new employees. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

In keeping with company policy, the new Hoover Trader Joe’s will donate 100% of unsold products to non-profit, community-based organizations, seven days a week.

Trader Joe’s began in 1967 in the Los Angeles area and has since expanded to more than 580 stores in 42 states and Washington, D.C. The chain recently announced several planned new locations.
