‘When Calls the Heart’ star on life support after 5-story fall

“When Calls the Heart” star Mamie Laverock is on life support after falling five stories from a balcony walkway.

Laverock, 19, was taken to a Winnipeg hospital on May 11 by her mother Nicole Compton after suffering a “medical emergency,” according to a GoFundMe page set up by her family.

The actress, who starred as nursing student Rosaleen Sullivan on the Hallmark Channel series, was initially transferred from the Winnipeg hospital to Vancouver where her parents added that “her recovery is unclear at this time” but that “she is alive and is showing signs of improvement.”

On May 26, her parents Nicole and Rob Compton announced in an update posted onto her GoFundMe page that she had been “escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories.”

“She sustained life threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support,” they wrote. “We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”

When Calls the Heart will premiere on the Hallmark Channel Sunday, May 12 at 9/8c.

Though airing on the Hallmark Channel, those without a basic cable set up can still watch new episodes of When Calls the Hearton Sundays with either Philo or Fubo.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Laverock’s “When Calls the Heart” costars Johannah Newmarch, Erin Krakow, and Andrea Brooks all shared the link to her GoFundMe page — which has surpassed its initial goal of $10,000 CAD — on social media and encouraged their followers to donate.

“I love this family, my heart is broken,” Newmarch, who plays Laverock’s mom Molly on the show, posted on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this.”

Krakow, who stars as Elizabeth Thornton, also posted a screenshot of the GoFundMe on Instagram.

“I just donated,” she posted. “If you have the means to do so, I hope you will, too. Link in bio.”
