When are Alabama schools on spring break? See the dates
The two biggest events in the spring for Alabama’s public school districts are annual testing and spring break.
Local boards of education set the week of spring break. The earliest spring break starts the week of March 4 and the latest starts the week of April 15.
Some districts take a break before testing, others take their break after testing is finished.
High school juniors are first up for testing, with districts scheduling the ACT some time in a two-week period from March 12 through March 22. Schools can set their own schedule for other grades that are tested – second through eighth grade – anywhere within a window from March 18 through April 26.
Here’s a look at when school districts, charter schools and statewide specialty schools reported to the Alabama Department of Education that they are taking their spring break. If the district did not report their dates, it is blank.
Be sure to check with your local school to ensure the dates haven’t changed since initially reported to the department.
