Today, Americans are celebrating the birthday of the country’s first president, George Washington, otherwise known as Presidents Day.

However, with the holiday being on a Monday, many people are curious as to what store fronts and other entities are remaining open?

What major retailers are open on Presidents Day?

Most major retailers and other big box stores such as Walmart, Target and Sam’s Club will be open for Presidents Day this year. However, hours can vary between each store.

Is Presidents Day considered a federal holiday?

Presidents Day is one of eleven federal holidays recognized nationwide by the United States Government. All non-essential federal government offices are closed and all federal employees are paid even if they receive the day off.

Many private-sector employees will also receive paid time off or special holiday pay on Washington’s Birthday.

Is the post office open on Presidents Day 2023?

Because the post office is considered a federal entity, the United States Postal Service will not be open and operating on Monday.

Mail is also not expected to be delivered on the holiday.

Are banks open on Presidents Day 2023?

Most major banks will be observing Presidents Day and will remain closed for the day.

Credit unions are likely observe the holiday, however, it doesn’t hurt to reach out and be sure if necessary.
