What’s on budget ‘wish lists’ for Huntsville city councilors

Some Huntsville city councilors are urging more money for improvements to streets, sidewalks and parks as the city prepares to propose a funding plan that officials describe as “a challenge.”

With the city’s proposed budget scheduled to be released next week, councilors held a work session Wednesday to communicate what some described as a “wish list” for projects to get a funding boost.

The list included suggestions to build a pavilion at Pine Park from Councilor Bill Kling of southwest Huntsville’s District 4; more money for sidewalks, “particularly at Balch and Old Railroad Bed,” from Councilor John Meredith of District 5 in west Huntsville; and funds for more road improvements from Councilor David Little of District 3 in east Huntsville.
