Whataburger coming to east Alabama city
Whataburger is coming to another Alabama city – this time in Calhoun County.
The City of Jacksonville announced today that the Texas-based burger chain will soon begin construction on a location on Pelham Road South, across from Starbucks.
According to the city, “it may be a while for the project to begin,” but city officials plan to announce an opening date as soon as that’s determined.
Just last week, Whataburger opened its newest location in Albertville at 6950 U.S. 431.
Whataburger already has 26 locations in Alabama and opened a Madison restaurant in November.
Following the opening of a restaurant in Athens last year, the Albertville location was the second of 30 restaurants set to open through 2027 in partnership with MWB Restaurants, Whataburger’s local franchise group.
Additional restaurants coming to the state this year include:
- 2056 Winchester Rd. N.E., Huntsville.
- 14739 U.S. 231, Hazel Green.
- 23065 John T. Reid Pkwy., Scottsboro.
- 5850 University Dr. N.W., Huntsville.
- 1562 Florence Blvd., Florence.
- 2015 Cherokee Ave. S.W., Cullman.
Whataburger also has locations in Alabaster, Athens, Auburn, Birmingham, Brewton, Chickasaw, Clanton, Daphne, Decatur, Foley, Fultondale, Homewood, Hoover, Huntsville, Leeds, Mobile, Montgomery, Opelika, Pelham, Saraland and Tuscaloosa.
