After Philadelphia defeated the Dallas Cowboys 28-23 on Sunday, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts said: “I don’t think the bye week could have come at a better time.”

Philadelphia has its open date this week. The Eagles don’t play again until Nov. 20.

The timely break in the NFL grind is being welcomed in Philadelphia with its quarterback dealing with a left-knee issue – not one that has even landed Hurts on the injury report, because, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said, “his play status has never been in doubt” – but still an area for concern as much as it is of mystery for the NFL team’s fans.

Presumably, Hurts will take a break, at least physically, during the time off, which he started on Monday by sharing his go-to playlist on Apple Music.

Al Green recorded “Simply Beautiful” 26 years before Hurts was born, but it’s on quarterback’s playlist.

“This is the music I listen to during training camp: warming up, in the car, locker room or studying film,” Hurts said about his selections. “I am an old soul, and I love slow jams. I just keep a running list of songs that I can go to 24/7 no matter the scenario.”

The 50-song list features five selections by Anita Baker, four by JayDaYoungan and three apiece by Maze and the O’Jays.

A former Alabama quarterback, Hurts is in his third full season as the Eagles’ QB1.

Last season, when Hurts finished as the runner-up in the voting for the AP NFL Most Valuable Player Award, Philadelphia won the NFC championship before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII despite a record-setting performance by Hurts.

This season, the Eagles reached their bye with the best record in the NFL at 8-1.

In 2023, Hurts has completed 210-of-305 passes for 2,347 yards with 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions and run for 316 yards and seven touchdowns on 88 carries.

Philadelphia’s next game will be a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl, with the Eagles squaring off against the Chiefs at 7:15 p.m. CST Nov. 20 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
