What we saw at Alabama football’s 4th preseason camp practice

Alabama football took the field Sunday morning for its fourth preseason camp practice. The Crimson Tide once again started early, as is custom now under new head coach Kalen DeBoer.

UA allowed media members in for several practice periods Sunday. DeBoer will hold a press conference after practice as well.

The Crimson Tide will be back on the practice field Tuesday. Before UA’s day off, here’s what we observed during Sunday’s open practice periods.

– Reporters were let in in the middle of the fifth practice period.

– The practice playlist included Kodak Black’s “Super Gremlin,” Pop Smoke’s “Dior,” AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” and Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me.”

– When media first arrived, Alabama’s offense was practicing together as a unit. Kadyn Proctor, who had been working with the second-string offense previously, looked to have worked his way back to the first team at left tackle.

– The quarterback rotation during that time started with Jalen Milroe, followed by Ty Simpson and Austin Mack.

– At the start of the sixth period, players split off to work with their position groups.

– Besides the quarterbacks, no players were spotted in black jerseys, which signify non-contact participants in practice.

– After missing several players on Saturday due to UA’s summer graduation ceremony, the Tide seemed to be back to full strength Sunday.

– Players were in shells with helmets and shoulder pads for the second day in a row. Compared to Saturday’s observation periods, it seemed Alabama was doing more contact for its drills.

– Other than the fifth period, the Crimson Tide mostly worked on individual and group drills during the media time.

– Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack went with a dark gray sweatsuit for Sunday’s practice, and spent most of the observation time working with the linebackers, as is his custom.

– Defensive backs coach Mo Linguist was also dressed more warmly than the weather would have called for, donning a jacket and long pants. His cornerbacks were working on individual coverage drills during the media time.

– Media observation time ended at the conclusion of the eighth period.
