The health care landscape in the Birmingham metropolitan area is about to shift dramatically, pending regulatory and other approvals, after the UAB Health System agreed to acquire Ascension St. Vincent’s in a deal valued at $450 million.

Should the deal go through, UAB would own the main Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital in downtown Birmingham, along with St. Vincent’s East, St. Vincent’s St. Clair, St. Vincent’s Blount and St. Vincent’s Chilton.
