What to know about Alabama football’s history vs. Oklahoma and Texas
A day SEC football fans have been anticipating for years is finally here. On Monday, Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC, making for a 16-team conference that won’t have divisions for football.
Alabama will face one of the two new schools this season, heading to Oklahoma on Nov. 23 to face the Sooners. As the two new schools join to represent the SEC’s first expansion since adding Missouri and Texas A&M in 2012, here’s what to know about their football history with the Crimson Tide.
Texas
Two of the most storied programs in college football history haven’t met that many times, and when they have, Texas has typically had the advantage. The two schools met the past two regular seasons, with Alabama winning in Austin 2022 and Texas returning the favor in Bryant-Denny Stadium last year.
Other than a few odd matchups from 1902-1922, the Crimson Tide and Longhorns only met in the postseason until that 2022 game. For the most part, those matchups went Texas’ way.
