What theyâre saying about Alabama QBs after 2 play, Milroe sits against USF
Alabama football has four quarterbacks listed on its first team along the depth chart. Are any of them capable starters?
Three have tried, and failed, to assert himself as QB1. First, it was Jalen Milroe, then Tyler Buchner and Ty Simpson. The fourth, Dylan Lonergan, is a freshman and seemingly not ready based on comments by head coach Nick Saban.
Overall, Alabama has no strong answer to its quarterback question through 12 quarters. It can even be argued that with disappointing performances by each to varying degrees, the Tide (2-1) is further away from finding its guy than it has been in years. Oh, and Southeastern Conference play begins next week.
After the Tide escaped Tampa with a 17-3 win over South Florida — Bucher started and struggled, Simpson replaced him and performed slightly better under constant pressure, Milroe didn’t see the field — the takes flowed from national media outlets trying to make sense of where Alabama goes from here.
