What seed is Auburn in bracketology picks for final regular season week?
Heading into the final week of the 2023-24 regular season, Auburn is, on average, projected as a No. 4 seed across dozens of March Madness projections compiled by the Bracket Matrix.
Auburn has an average seed of 4.33, meaning most predictions either have Auburn as a No. 4 or No. 5 seed. A No. 5 seed is Auburn’s worst projection. Its highest projection is as a No. 2 seed, though that would appear quite unlikely.
Auburn is ranked No. 13 in the AP poll, No. 6 in the NET and No. 6 in KenPom.
Auburn is 1-7 in Quad 1 games which is by far the worst record of any team in the top 30 of the NET rankings. Indiana State and Colorado are the only other top 30 teams in the NET with only one Quad 1 win. And those two teams are No. 29 and No. 30 respectively.
Alabama is the only other top 10 team in the NET rankings with a losing record in Quad 1 games.
But Auburn is a perfect 21-0 against Quads 2, 3 and 4.
The Tigers’ resume is built by no bad losses, but a lack of quality wins.
As of Tuesday, the Matrix currently has the four seeds as, in order, Alabama, Illinois, Auburn and San Diego State.
Kentucky and BYU are the first two No. 5 seeds, but have average seed projections of less than five — Kentucky is at 4.43 and BYU at 4.85 — meaning those two teams are just barely off the No. 4 seed line and could easily move up.
Below are a few of the notable bracketology projections as of Tuesday.
ESPN: No. 5 Auburn vs No. 12 McNeese State (Site: Spokane, Washington)
CBS: No. 4 Auburn vs. Louisiana Tech (Site: Salt Lake City, Utah)
USA Today: No. 5 Auburn vs No. 12 Richmond (Site: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
FOX: No. 4 Auburn (does not list opponent)
Auburn closes the regular season this week with a Tuesday night road game against Missouri and a Saturday home finale against Georgia. To have a chance at a top-four seed in the SEC Tournament, Auburn must win both those games.
Any loss would be a large weight on Auburn’s NCAA Tournament resume.
Just 12 days to go until Selection Sunday.
