What Nick Saban said after Alabama beat Chattanooga by 56 on senior day
No. 8 Alabama (10-1, 7-0 SEC) cruised past Chattanooga (7-4, 5-2) on senior day, winning 66-10.
Multiple Crimson Tide freshmen saw the field, with many players scoring the first touchdowns of their careers. Quarterback Jalen Milroe was also an efficient 13-of-16 for 197 yards and three touchdowns in one half of work. Jermaine Burton also caught three passes for 105 yards.
The Mocs took advantage of two blown coverages and turned them into points. Gino Appleberry rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries against the Tide.
Here’s what Nick Saban said postgame:
–”I thought we had a pretty good week at practice,” Saban said in his opening, noting that continued into the game.
“Jalen (Milroe) played really, really well in the game.” Alabama’s early explosive plays were practiced during the week based off the Mocs defense.
–”We got to play a ton of guys,” Saban said. UA dressed every healthy player available, Saban said.
–Of the decision to change the punt returner from Kool-Aid McKinstry to Caleb Downs, Saban said it was a “confidence issue” for McKinstry after a lackluster season as a returner.
–”Will (Reichard) has been a great asset to the organization,” Saban said of UA’s longtime kicker.
–Saban called Chris Braswell’s first-quarter targeting penalty and ejection as a learning point. It’s the second time in three weeks that UA has had a roughing the passer penalty committed by one of its elite pass rushers.
–”We got a two-game season left here and we need to focus on how we finish,” Saban said.
