What is Trump’s most hated policy? Only one is less popular than Gulf of America, Fox News poll finds
Of all of President Donald Trump’s second-term policies, only one is more hated by voters than Trump renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, a new poll found.
The name change is disapproved of by 67 percent of voters, according to the Fox News survey of 994 registered voters across the country released Thursday.
Just 27 percent of voters like the newly named Gulf of America, the poll showed.
Trump signed an executive order for the gulf to be renamed and declared February 9 as officially Gulf of America Day, stirring controversy.
While Google Maps shows the gulf as the Gulf of America to American users, the Associated Press has refrained from using that label in all of its stories.
The Fox News survey, conducted March 14 to March 17, found only Trump’s proposal to acquire Greenland is more unpopular than the Gulf of America.
Seven in 10 respondents disapprove of the United States taking over Greenland while 27% are in favor of the policy.
The most popular Trump policy of the president’s second term is his executive order banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s school sports, the poll found.
The ban is favored by 68% of voters compared to 30% who oppose the policy.
A similar margin approve of Trump making English the country’s official language, with 66% in favor and 32% opposing the policy.
Trump made the designation official in a March 1 executive order.
