Alabama faces Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl Dec. 31 in Tampa, Fla., which leads to the question, just what is ReliaQuest?

ReliaQuest is a cybersecurity technology firm founded in Tampa in 2007 by Brian Murphy. According to the company’s website, ReliaQuest’s mission is to “make security possible.”

“By combining the power of a Security Operations Platform — ReliaQuest GreyMatter — with security expertise, our customers have increased visibility, the ability to confidently automate across the security lifecycle, and effectively measure and manage risk for continuous improvement,” according to the company’s website.

ReliaQuest began sponsoring the annual New Year’s week bowl game in Tampa in 2022, taking over for long-time namesake Outback. The popular steakhouse lent its name to the game originally known as the Hall of Fame Bowl from 1996-2022.

This year marks the third meeting between Alabama and Michigan in a Tampa bowl game. The Wolverines won 28-24 in the 1988 Hall of Fame Bowl, with the Crimson Tide claiming a 17-14 victory in the 1997 Outback Bowl.

The 2024 ReliaQuest Bowl kicks off at 11 a.m. on New Year’s Eve at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. ESPN will broadcast the game live.
