South Alabama’s homecoming game against Louisiana-Monroe is set for Saturday, Oct. 15. The game will be live streamed on fuboTV (free trial).
The Jaguars (4-1, 1-0 Sun Belt Conference) open a two-game stretch on Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe (2-4, 1-2), then have a short week before facing arch-rival Troy in the “Battle for the Belt” on Oct. 20, a Thursday.
South Alabama returns to action after knocking off Louisiana on Oct. 1 20-17, thanks to a 43-yard field goal as time expired by Diego Guajardo.
The Jags enter the game with one of the most prolific offenses in the nation, averaging 35 points per game (32nd in the nation), 273.4 yards passing (34th in the nation), and 432.2 yards of total offense (51st in the nation). They are also one of the best teams in the nation defensively ranking 19th in the nation in total defense (302.4 yards per game), 28th in scoring defense (18.8 points per game), 14th in passing efficiency defense (109.92), and sixth in turnover margin (1.40).
South Alabama is a 17-point favorite against Louisiana-Monroe, which is 0-3 on the road this season. The Jaguars are 3-1 vs. the Warhawks all-time in Mobile, including a 38-14 victory at Hancock Whitney in 2020.
Nickel safety Yam Banks will wear the honorary No. 5 jersey on Saturday. It’s the first such honor for Banks, a two-year starter at South Alabama’s “Husky” position.
