What Auburn football players said about the new north endzone videoboard

As Auburn football completed spring practice back in April, there were a handful of new things for the players to adjust to.

Some new teammates, new assistant coaches, but one new thing seemed to really catch the players’ eyes when they went to Jordan-Hare Stadium for the A-Day spring practice.

It was the first time they got to play in front of Auburn’s new north endzone videoboard, a project that received final approval in June 2024. It wasn’t quite finished and in operation yet, but there was still excitement from the players.

“Looks awesome,” Auburn punter Hudson Kaak said in the All-Access: Auburn Spring football special that aired on SEC Network. “I reckon the advertisements and the replays of the plays we make are gonna look real nice up there.”

“Oh, I ain’t even peep that joint,” Auburn running back Damari Alston said. “I’m gonna be scoring touchdowns on both sides. On my long runs, I’m gonna be looking at each board.”

Auburn budgeted $25.7 million for the video board, according to documents from the June 7, 2024, Board of Trustees meeting. Construction went on throughout the 2024 season and ensuing offseason, and it’s intended to be completed by the start of the 2025 season.

“It just looks beautiful, the field looks gorgeous,” long snapper Reed Hughes said. “I’m just so happy to be here.”

Auburn will begin fall practice in early August and will open the 2025 season on Aug. 29 with a road game against Baylor.
