As Alabama football began practicing for its Rose Bowl matchup with Michigan, the team had some additional players. Several early enrollees in the class of 2024 are participating.

Among them is five-star quarterback Julian Sayin. On Tuesday, Alabama QB Jalen Milroe was asked what he had seen from Sayin, through three bowl practices.

“He spins the ball really well,” Milroe said. “It’s been really good to have him in the room, to have another guy in the room. With everything, just appreciative to have another brother in the room. He’s doing a really good job practicing. He’s a good dude.”

Milroe, a member of Alabama’s 2021 class, was also an early enrollee. He said the experience was something he could use to help mentor Sayin.

“I’ve been in his shoes, being a freshman coming into college,” Milroe said. “All I can try to do is give him the information that I’ve gotten and really allow him to be a sponge with all the information that I have and just be a good teammate for him.”

Sayin will be part of Alabama’s first round of signees during Wednesday’s early signing period. He chose the Crimson Tide over offers from Ohio State, Arizona and Auburn among others.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Sayin is the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2024. The service lists him as the No. 5 player nationally.

Sayin played his high school football at Carlsbad in California. He was named the MVP of the Elite 11 finals his senior season.

Milroe is coming back to Alabama for next season, so Sayin will likely have to sit for at least one year in Tuscaloosa. Milroe and his Crimson Tide teammates won the SEC championship game this year, making the College Football Playoff semifinals as the No. 4 seed.

Alabama will face Michigan in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. The winner of that matchup will face either Texas or Washington in the national championship game.
