Week 1 of college football dealt plenty of surprises for us pickers. Let’s hope we can fix that.

This is an opinion piece.

Colorado’s Deion Sanders, Duke’s Riley Leonard and the undefeated start for the lame-duck PAC-12 were the surprising top stories of the first week of college football.

SEC teams won 11 games against tomato cans but lost all three games against legitimate competition. Florida was embarrassed at Utah, South Carolina’s offensive line couldn’t block anyone in a loss to North Carolina, and LSU was clearly outclassed by Florida State.

The result for us was an 11-4 overall record but more importantly a 7-5 mark against the spread. Winning 58.3 percent is better than the best sports bettor of all-time. Hopefully, we can all improve on that record this week.

Let’s get to the picks.
