Weather alert issued for Jackson and DeKalb counties Monday afternoon
On Monday at 12:18 p.m. the National Weather Service released a special weather statement until 1:15 p.m. for Jackson and DeKalb counties.
“At 12:17 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near Stevenson, or 11 miles southwest of Bridgeport, moving southeast at 15 mph. Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm,” says the weather service.
Locations impacted by the alert include Henagar, Stevenson, Ider, Pisgah, Hammondville, Martintown, Rosalie, Fabius and Sulpher Springs.
According to the weather service, “Strong gusty winds will be capable of knocking down small tree limbs along with other small unsecured items. Seek safe shelter until this storm has passed.”
