Wearing a different hat: Mac McCutcheon discusses new role as Madison County Commission chairman
Mac McCutcheon is wearing a different hat these days.
He hung up the Alabama Speaker of the House gavel after six years and 16 overall in the State Legislature following the 2022 election.
But his retirement didn’t last long. McCutcheon was appointed Madison County Commission chairman by Gov. Kay Ivey after previous chairman Dale Strong was elected to Congress.
He’s diving into the county budget and keeping an eye on long-range planning, making sure Madison County’s infrastructure keeps up with its population growth with Huntsville now the state’s largest city and Madison rapidly moving up the list as well.
McCutcheon recently participated in a question-and-answer session with the Lede.
