Wawa opening 16 more Florida stores in 2023: Here’s where
Wawa isn’t actually trying to take over the world. It only seems that way.
Having already announced plans for expansion into the Mobile and Florida Panhandle markets within the next three years, the food market/convenience store giant intends to open 16 new locations in the Sunshine State during 2023, bringing the total there to 264 by the end of the year.
Wawa already operates 250 stores in Florida with more than 10,000 employees.
In February, Wawa announced plans for its first two Mobile stores, as well as four more in Baldwin County (two in Fairhope, one in Daphne, one in Robertsdale), all expected to be operational within three years, along with the first two stores in the Florida Panhandle.
Longterm, the company plans to open 40 stores in the Mobile/Panhandle area within the next 8-10 years.
Wawa is a food market/gas station chain that started with a dairy market in 1964 in the Pennsylvania town of Wawa. It’s a privately held company with more than 950 stores, mostly in East Coast states.
The Florida locations expected to open in 2023 include: Boynton Beach (2); West Palm Beach; St. Petersburg; Melbourne; Hollywood; Oakland Park; Jacksonville (3); Homestead; Hialeah; Lantana; Orlando; Loxahatchee; and Miami.
