Watch Suni Lee’s 2 perfect 10s as Auburn narrowly drops dual meet at Alabama
Suni Lee made history Friday night in Tuscaloosa, even if sixth-ranked Auburn didn’t come out on top against rival 11th-ranked Alabama.
Lee scored two perfect 10s, setting the program career record for 10s in the process, and took home the all-around title at Coleman Coliseum, but the Tigers fell to the Tide, 197.850-197.700 in a head-to-head dual meet. Lee registered perfect scores on bars and beam, bookending the meet with the pair of 10s as she finished with an overall score of 39.825.

It marked the third time this season that Lee, the reigning Olympic all-around gold medalist, has taken home the individual all-around title for Auburn. She previously claimed the all-around in the Tigers’ season-opening performance in the Super 16 Challenge in Las Vegas, as well as two weeks ago against Arkansas.
Friday’s all-around score tied Lee’s career-best mark, which she previously set in last season’s meet against LSU.
In matching her career-high all-around score, Lee recorded the seventh and eighth perfect 10s of her career — and her second and third of her sophomore season — moving her into first place in Auburn history. All eight of Lee’s 10s have come on bars and beam. She twice posted a perfect score on bars as a freshman last year, recording 10s at LSU and in the SEC Championship meet. She scored a 10 on beam three times last season: against Kentucky, against Florida and in the NCAA Regional.
This season, Lee opened the year with a bang, posting a perfect 10 on beam in Auburn’s season-opener in Las Vegas. She came close to some others in the weeks since — and then she broke through again Friday against the Tide. Along with her two 10s, Lee scored a 9.9 on vault and 9.925 on floor.
While Lee’s perfect 10s and all-around title anchored a strong road score for Auburn, Alabama came away with the head-to-head rivalry win after surging in front on the final rotation after posting a 49.700 team total on floor. That erased a slim Auburn advantage through the first three rotations and gave Alabama the edge.
Among the Tigers’ other top performances against the Tide were a 9.9 on bars and a 9.95 on beam from Cassie Stevens, a 9.9 on beam from Aria Brusch, a 9.925 on floor from Derrian Gobourne and a 9.9 on floor from Sophia Groth.
