Watch Shedeur Sanders’ unique celebration after long NFL draft wait finally ends

Shedeur Sanders had a long wait to hear his name called in the 2025 NFL draft, so naturally, he felt like celebrating.

Sanders, the former Colorado star quarterback who many had projected to be a first-round pick, was drafted in the fifth round on Saturday by the Cleveland Browns. Soon after he was selected, Sanders put on a Browns hat and jumped into the swimming pool — shoes and all — at the family home.

Sanders’ father, NFL legend (and Colorado head coach) Deion Sanders, can be seen standing next to the pool, clapping and saying “I’m so proud of you, son.” Here’s video:

Here’s video of Sanders watching his name get announced on the NFL draft webcast with family and friends, and then pulling off a high-stepping celebration dance:

“Thank you everybody for your support,” Sanders said in another video posted to the Colorado football X account. “Thank you to the fans. Thank you to the Browns organization for giving me a chance. That’s all I need.

“… It’s perfect timing. Our belief in God, we know these decisions, things happen. Tough times and adversity, you can’t control that. … I knew the whole time God had me, so I wasn’t really panicking. I knew it was about perfect timing.”

Sanders was the seventh quarterback taken in the 2025 draft. Miami’s Cam Ward (No. 1 overall by Tennessee) and Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart (No. 22 by the New York Giants) went in the first round, Louisville’s Tyler Shough (New Orleans) went in the second round and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe (Seattle) and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel (Cleveland) went in the third round.
