Watch Quebec’s Steve Mboumoua announce in French he’s headed to Alabama, adds Roll Tide

By now you’ve heard Steve Mboumoua joined the Alabama class of 2024 at the start of the early signing period.

However, the 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive lineman made the announcement Wednesday in French. Of course, he ended the statement with a Roll Tide.

“We have been preparing for it since the beginning of the summer, and today is the day we made things official,” Mboumoua, who played at Notre-Dame-de-Foy Campus in Quebec, said, per News.DayFR.

“I made a verbal commitment to coach (Nick) Saban at the beginning of the season to focus on academics and football.”

Mboumoua picked Alabama over Mississippi State and Florida.

“I chose Alabama because of the academic support they offered me,” the 19-year-old said. “With my future teachers, we made a good plan for the program I will enter. And football comes with it. It was an option not to be overlooked.”

Per 247Sports, Mboumoua made 52 tackles, including nine sacks during his final high school campaign.

“With everything they have accomplished, it’s great,” he said, per News.DayFR. “But, at the end of the day, you’re still a football player. Your mission is to perform in school and play football. It’s not pressure. You just do what you have to do. I have worked my whole life for this opportunity, and now I am ready to face it.”

Alabama’s class is second overall on 247Sports team rankings, behind Georgia.
