Watch out for ‘super fog’ tonight, weather service says
Going to be out and about on New Year’s Eve (Saturday, Dec. 31)? Keep an eye out for super fog, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service offices across the state have issued dense fog advisories for much of Alabama that will go into effect later tonight.
But tonight’s fog may not be your average stuff.
Fog could combine with smoke from fireworks to drastically reduce visibility, according to the weather service.
Dense fog advisories will be in effect for all of Alabama — except the northern counties — until Sunday morning:
The weather service is expecting fog to form from Saturday evening through the overnight hours and become widespread.
Visibility could be reduced to a quarter-mile or less, the weather service said.
Fog will also be possible on the Gulf and inland waterways, forecasters said.
The fog is expected to dissipate by Sunday morning.
