Watch out for freezing fog if you are driving in these Alabama counties this morning

Take extra care on the roads this morning if you’re in north and north-central Alabama. There could be freezing fog to deal with.

There’s also regular fog to deal with in areas farther south, which could also make driving a bit tricky during the morning commute.

A dense freezing fog advisory will be in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday for the north Alabama counties of Cullman, Madison, Morgan, DeKalb, Jackson and Marshall.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville said visibility of one-quarter of a mile or less will be possible this morning. Forecasters said freezing fog may create a very thin glaze of ice on elevated and exposed surfaces.

A freezing fog advisory will be in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday for the following central Alabama counties: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said visibility one quarter mile or less will be possible, and freezing fog could leave frost on bridges or overpasses.

A dense fog advisory will also be in effect until 9 a.m. today for the central Alabama counties of Barbour, Bullock, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Russell, Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Autauga, Elmore, Marengo and Dallas.

The weather service said visibility one quarter mile or less will be possible in those areas.

The fog is expected to lift later this morning, and partly sunny skies are expected for the rest of the day.
