Watch Nick Saban take jab at Pat McAfee, who can only laugh

If Nick Saban’s first appearance of the season as a weekly guest on the “Pat McAfee Show” is any indication, it should be an entertaining segment.

The Alabama coach joined the ESPN analyst Friday on the “College GameDay” set ahead of Alabama’s game against Texas. During the interview, McAfee asked about a rebirth of old-school football mentality which he feels has returned to the game.

Saban explained what he believes is a perception of him being old school.

“Mental toughness doesn’t mean you have to be hard on somebody,” Saban explained on Friday. “Discipline does not mean you have to be hard on somebody. Discipline is about making the right personal choices or decisions. Here’s something I know I’m supposed to do that I really don’t want to do. Can you make yourself do it?

“Over here, there’s something you know you’re not supposed to do, and you want to do it. Can you keep yourself from it?”

McAfee had to stop Saban right there.

“Both of those, I struggle with,” he said. “Both side every day.”

Saban, without missing a beat, quipped, “Well, that doesn’t surprise me.”

McAfee announced Friday that Saban will join him every Thursday for a weekly segment on his show. Looks like appointment TV.
