Watch Japan’s ispace try to land moon rover: Private company could make space history
Watch today as a Japanese company tries to land its own spacecraft on the moon, the first time a private business has tried.
The ispace company from Tokyo put its craft named Hakuto into lunar orbit a month ago. Controllers are trying to bring Hakuto down to the surface from about 60 miles up. The attempt is live-streaming on YouTube.
Inside the lander is a small lunar rover sent by the United Arab Emirates and a small Japanese robot.
If it works, ispace will follow three governments – Russia, the United States and China – to successfully land on the moon.
