Watch Chris Stewart’s call of Alabama’s win over Grand Canyon: ‘The white flag has been waved’

Chris Stewart knows how to put it all in perspective.

At times fourth-seeded Alabama’s 72-61 win over No. 12 seed Grand Canyon 72-61 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday was an all-out war.

So, as the final seconds of the clock ticked away, the Voice of the Crimson Tide summed it up nicely.

“And the white flag has been waved from Grand Canyon,” Stewart declared. “Alabama’s gonna advance. … The final 10 seconds are gonna tick away and let’s get out of here and head to LA as the Tide rolls to the Sweet 16.”

Mark Sears had 26 points and 12 rebounds, Mouhamed Dioubate scored all nine of his points in the final 5 1/2 minutes, and the Tide used a late surge to win Sunday night.

Alabama advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 10th time overall and third time in the last four seasons under coach Nate Oats. The Crimson Tide will play in a regional semifinal in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1990-91; last year, Alabama was a No. 1 seed and fell to eventual national runner-up San Diego State.

This time, it’ll be the Tide trying to take down top-seeded North Carolina on Thursday in a West Region semifinal Los Angeles.
