Watch Birmingham, Hoover firefighters rescue woman who drove off cliff in Bluff Park
A woman was hospitalized Friday after she drove over the cliff in Bluff Park.
Firefighters and police officers from Birmingham and Hoover were dispatched about 2:15 p.m. to Tyler Road, across the street from Mr. P’s.
Authorities said the woman left the roadway for an unknown reason and plunged about 60 to 70 feet down the ravine. Her vehicle landed on its side.
Firefighters used a haul system with a stretcher and a rope to pull her up to the waiting rescue unit.
She was out of the car and on the way to the hospital within 15 minutes.
She suffered a head laceration but is expected to be OK.
