Watch Bama commit Jaylen Mbakwe in title-game action
Clay-Chalkville senior and Alabama commit Jaylen Mbakwe is expected to play cornerback for the Crimson Tide, but he showed off his playmaking skills on offense in the first half of tonight’s Class 6A championship game against Saraland.
Mbakwe scored on a runs of 13 and 3 yards and completed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Mario Craver. The big plays were needed, as Saraland junior and Alabama commit Ryan Williams caught TD passes of 63 and 77 yards and ran for a short touchdown in the first half.

The game is tied at 21-all at halftime, as Mbakwe and Williams have accounted for three touchdowns apiece.
In the first half, Mbakwe logged 12 carries for 53 yards and two touchdowns and completed 8-of-15 passes for 120 yards and a TD. Earl in the second half, Mbakwe had a 73-yard touchdown run, but it was nullified by a holding penalty.

Mbakwe entered tonight’s game with 125 carries for 905 yards and 20 touchdowns, while also completing 128-of-186 passes for 1,855 yards and 21 touchdowns. He is Clay-Chalkville’s starting quarterback, although this is his first year at the position.
