The Alabama basketball had plenty to celebrate Thursday night.

The team watched as two of its own were selected in the NBA Draft.

Brandon Miller was selected No. 2 overall by the Charlotte Hornets. The athletic 6-foot-9 wing averaged 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game last season for the Crimson Tide, who entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed before making an early exit.

But the SEC’s player of the year as a freshman comes with some baggage, which may be why Hornets fans booed the selection Thursday night.

Miller is tied to a case that led to former Tide player Darius Miles and another man being indicted on capital murder charges. A police investigator testified in February that Miles texted Miller to bring him his gun that night. Miller hasn’t been charged with wrongdoing, though the ongoing case brought intense scrutiny during the second half of the season for Miller and the Alabama program.

Meanwhile, forward Noah Clowney was taken 21st overall by Brooklyn Nets.

Clowney finished his freshman year scoring 9.8 points a game with 7.9 rebounds a night. One of his biggest performances came with a 16-point performance in a 71-65 win at then-No. 1 Houston on a day Miller struggled to 0-for-8 shooting from the field.
