Washington QB Michael Penix accepts Senior Bowl invitation
Former Washington quarterback Michael Penix has accepted an invitation to the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl, game officials announced Monday.
Penix led the Huskies to a 14-1 record and the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in 2023, passing for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He finished second in the Heisman Trophy balloting behind LSU’s Jayden Daniels.
Penix is the seventh quarterback confirmed for the 75th anniversary Senior Bowl, which takes place Feb. 3 at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile. He joins Oregon’s Bo Nix, Tennessee’s Joe Milton, Tulane’s Michael Pratt, South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler, Notre Dame’s Sam Hartman and South Alabama’s Carter Bradley as quarterbacks for the annual college football all-star game and NFL draft showcase.
Other high-profile players already confirmed for the 2024 Senior Bowl include Missouri running back Cody Schrader, South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette, Georgia center Sedrick Van Pran, Texas defensive linemen T’Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy, UCLA defensive end Laiatu Latu, N.C. State linebacker Payton Wilson, Michigan cornerback Mike Sainristil and Georgia safety Javon Bullard. In-state favorites include Alabama kicker Will Reichard and defensive linemen Chris Braswell and Justin Eboigbe; Auburn defensive lineman Marcus Harris, cornerbacks Nehemiah Pritchett and D.J. James and safety Jaylin Simpson; and Troy running back Kimani Vidal and linebacker Javon Solomon.
