Was Ryan Williams sick of all the 17 talk? Alabama receiver reacts
Did you know Alabama receiver Ryan Williams was only 17 last season?
Most did. It was hard to avoid knowing that fact. It felt like everyone talked about it as Williams broke out during his freshman season. He had a remarkable year for a player who was supposed to be a senior at Saraland High School.
Instead, Williams reclassified and became a star in Tuscaloosa as a 17-year-old receiver who caught 48 passes for 865 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for two.
Williams, during an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay podcast, was asked if he got sick of all the talk about him only being 17 during the 2024 season.
“I didn’t get sick of it,” Williams said. “It was kind of one of those things for me, it’s pretty much like whenever people ask me if I get sick of pictures. You’re not going to always have it forever. I just take advantage of the moment. Accept it. Embrace it. I enjoyed every bit of that. Now we’ve just got to come up with something else.”
Talking about Williams being 17 won’t work this season anymore. Williams turned 18 in February.
