Warm or cool October in store for Alabama?

October is already under way, but what will the weather hold for Alabama?

Temperature-wise it could be a mixed bag, according to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center.

The CPC issues various temperature and precipitation outlooks, and they hold a little bit of everything for Alabama over the next few weeks.

The six- to 10-day temperature outlook, which covers Oct. 7-11, suggests most of Alabama could have below-average temperatures for the first week of spooky season. North and part of central Alabama have slightly higher probabilities of seeing cooler temperatures.

Here’s the 6- to 10-day outlook:

Cooler-than-average temperatures? Alabama has a shot at seeing those during the first part of the month.

The next outlook is the eight- to 14-day forecast, and it covers Oct. 9-15. It suggests that all of Alabama could have near-average temperatures during that time.

Here’s the 8- to 14-day outlook:

8-14 day temp outlook

Near-average October temperatures are favored for the state for the middle part of October.

The outlook for the entire month of October (shown at the top of this post) shows that most of Alabama could have near-average temperatures. However, parts of north and west Alabama have increased chances of seeing higher-than-average temperatures overall for the month.

So what are average temperatures across Alabama in October? Of course there will be a general decline in high temperatures as the month progresses, and nights will also get cooler.

October is also typically one of the driest months in Alabama.
