Want to join the Alabama football team? Walk-on tryouts scheduled
Want to finally live that Division I dream? Want to be the next Levi Wallace? Well, as long as you’re a full-time student at the University of Alabama, Saturday is your chance.
The Crimson Tide football team posted on its social media pages Tuesday announcing that walk-on tryouts will be held on Aug. 26 at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility. The tryout is for students enrolled in “12+” hours at UA. Call time is 10 a.m.
Levi Wallace is the walk-on Cinderella story. The two-sport athlete from Tuscon, Ariz., joined the team in 2014 and didn’t see the field until two years later. He became a scholarship depth piece, then a starter and eventually an NFL veteran.
Alabama went local for its class of 2023 preferred walk-ons, a distinction that usually means those athletes were recruited. The Tide open the season against Middle Tennessee on Sept. 2.
