Walton Goggins in ‘White Lotus’ Season 3 looks like trouble in paradise

Alabama native Walton Goggins is the face of trouble in paradise in a new trailer for the third season of the sultry hit “White Lotus.”

The new season of the HBO series begins streaming Feb. 16 on Max. As in the previous two seasons, it’ll feature a group of vacationers working through a convoluted list of personal and interpersonal issues within the swanky confines of an elite resort. This time around, the action takes place in Thailand.

As Rick Hatchett, Goggins takes on a look that’s louche bordering on haggard: Tropical shirts hanging mostly open on a lean frame, lots of stubble, unkempt hair. Throughout the trailer Hatchett receives attention from his girlfriend Chelsea, played by Aimee Lou Woodard, a two-time BAFTA winner for her role in Netflix’s “Sex Education” series.

“Rick, the lady in the airport thought you were my dad,” Chelsea tells Rick at one point, drawing a pained “My God” in response.

Hatchett is spotlighted as a voiceover suggests that people who come to Thailand are “either hiding from someone … or they’re looking for someone.”

Amid the shots of the cast diving into the luxury (and party scene) of the titular resort, hints of darker material abound: Guns, masked invaders, and Jason Isaacs as Timothy Ratliff, a wealthy man on the verge of losing everything.

People reports that Goggins has described the production as “one of the greatest experiences of my life.”

“I have a lot of friends that I came into this experience with,” he told People. “Leslie Bibb is like a sister to me, and Parker Posey is a dear friend, and Michelle Monaghan — so I knew a lot of people, and people knew people, friends of friends, if you will. Jason Isaacs and all the rest of it, but we’re as thick as thieves this far into it.”

Walton is a Birmingham native whose numerous credits include standout roles in “The Shield,” “The Righteous Gemstones” and “Justified.” Other notable roles include his appearances in the Quentin Tarantino film “The Hateful Eight” and the Prime series “Fallout.”
