Walmart, Target recall: Snack food could contain steel pieces

More than 15,000 cases of oyster crackers have been recalled from retailers including Walmart, Target, and Giant Eagle after stainless steel wire was found in the product.

Ohio-based Shearer’s Foods, LLC has recalled its oyster crackers, after the products were found to be contaminated with foreign material.

According to a notification from the FDA, the oyster crackers were distributed to Target, Walmart, and Giant Eagle stores in Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

The products were packaged and marketed under several brand names, including Market Pantry, a brand sold at Walmart. You can go here for a complete list of brand names and stores.

Consumers with the crackers should return them to their place of purchase.
