Walker County shooting leaves 1 dead, 2 injured; search underway for 2 suspects including juvenile
An early-morning shooting in Walker County left one person dead and two others injured, and authorities are now searching for two suspects.
The shooting happened about 5 a.m. on Hill Drive in Quinton near the line of Walker and Jefferson counties. Charges indicate it took place during a robbery.
The homicide victim – an adult male – was discovered outside of a residence and pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the slain victim, no disclosed any information about the two wounded people, who also are adult males.
Multiple law enforcement officers have been on the scene for much of the day processing it for evidence and searching for suspects.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the search.
Sheriff’s officials have released few details in the case but said Corey Ryan Mahaffey, a 36-year-old Dora man, is charged with capital murder during a robbery and capital murder aiding and abetting. He is also charged with two counts of first-degree assault.
A juvenile is also facing charges.
Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
