Wait, what? Alabama residents are 2nd most vain in US
In the words of Carly Simon “you’re so vain.”
Or maybe that should be “we’re so vain?”
A new study by BonusFinder.com – and like all these sorts of things you should take it with a grain of salt – ranks Alabama as the second “most vain” state in the country. The ranking is all based on the percentage of people who said they edit their selfies before posting on social media.
According to the study, 52% of Alabama residents admit to editing selfies before posting – 68% of women and 30% of men.
That puts Alabama just behind West Virginia at 55%. Of this percentage, 50% are women and 44% are men. Interestingly, West Virginian males rank fourth among the most concerned about their appearance online in the US, behind Wyoming, Delaware and Hawaii.
Nebraska takes the third spot, with 50% of residents admitting to editing their photos. However for Nebraskans, this was heavily weighted towards the female population with 83% editing photos, while only 17% of males confessed to editing before posting.
Also in third, with a score of 50% is Utah, female residents here are most likely to edit selfies at 83%, while fourth place goes to Iowa with 48% of residents admitting to editing selfies. Of Iowans, 61% of females admitted to making edits, while 39% of men answered that they do.
Here’s the top 10 vainest states, with percentage showing the figure for the number of residents who edited a selfie before posting:
