More than 82,000 voters decided this week’s high school football players of the week, with one repeat winner on the season.

The Hollis Wright Birmingham Player of the Week is Cole McCarty of Moody. The Huntsville Player of the Week is Andrew Hunter of Randolph. The Coastal Player of the Week is Faith Academy’s Brandon Dean.

McCarty, who completed 18-of-23 passes for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ win over Springville, received 27,744 votes out of the 46,511 cast. Class 5A No. 3 Moody is 7-0 on the season headed into Friday night’s game at St. Clair County.

Minor quarterback Kareem Keye finished second in the Hollis Wright Birmingham Player of the Week voting.

Randolph quarterback Hunter was the winner in the voting for the Huntsville Player of the Week. Hunter also won the balloting in Week 4 and the Raiders have dominated the voting this season with winners also in Week 2 and Week 5. Hunter, who received 3,401 of the 8,403 votes from the Huntsville poll, hit 10-of-19 passes for 269 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 45-0 win over Madison County last week. He also scored 3 touchdowns on 7 carries, averaging 11 yards per attempt.

Ri Fletcher of Hartselle finished second in the voting.

Dean had 10 tackles, 3 assists, 2 forced fumbles, 2 sacks and 4 tackles for a loss in Class 5A No. 10 Faith’s 30-6 win over Vigor. Dean picked up 11,118 of 27,254 votes in the Coastal Player of the Week poll. Jarrett Daughtry of Faith was the top vote-getter last week.

T.K. Barnett of Murphy was second in this week’s poll.
