Vote for the top Huntsville-area football player of Week 3

Fans can once again cast their vote for their favorite performance from north Alabama high school football action.

Coaches can submit statistics following their games on Friday night or nominate players before noon each Saturday.

Nominations must come from a coach or official team statistician. They can be emailed to [email protected].

Voting is open until Wednesday evening. The winner will be announced on AL.com on Thursday.

Here are the nominees from Week 3:

Will Carter, Huntsville: Carter finished 11-of-16 passing for 147 yards and three touchdowns in Huntsville’s 30-27 win over Grissom He also carried the ball seven times for 44 yards, including one touchdown.

Jake Jones, Scottsboro: Jones accounted for 361 total yards and four touchdowns to lead Scottsboro to a 42-35 win over Boaz. He rushed for 226 yards on 25 carries with three touchdowns, also completing 12-of-15 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown.

Anthony Gideon, James Clemens: Gideon finished with 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the Jets’ 34-31 victory over Bob Jones in the Madison Bowl, with his longest run being a 37-yard touchdown run; he also scored the final touchdown of the game to put the Jets ahead.

Isaiah Shingleton, Westminster Christian: Along with his strong play at safety in which he didn’t allow any big passing plays, he returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of Westminster Christian’s 40-10 win over St. John Paul II. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the first half, but it was called back due to a penalty.

Julyon Jordan, Guntersville: The South Alabama running back commit ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries to lead Class 5A, No. 1-ranked Guntersville to a 52-22 win over Brewer.

Gavin Fuqua, Austin: The Austin running back totaled three touchdowns in the Black Bears’ 31-30 win in overtime against Sparkman.

Johnny Jackson, Bob Jones: The Bob Jones quarterback Johnny Jackson threw for three touchdowns and ran for one in Bob Jones’ 34-31 loss to James Clemens in the Madison Bowl on Friday.

Jordan Miles, Grissom: The East Carolina linebacker commit totaled 12 tackles (nine solo), six tackles for loss, two quarterback pressures and a quarterback hurry in Grissom’s 30-27 loss to Huntsville.

Tyler Pierce, Boaz: Pierce passed for a school single-game record 315 yards with four touchdowns in the team’s 42-35 loss to Scottsboro.

Drew Puccio, Arab: Puccio accounted for 282 yards and three touchdowns in Arab’s 42-7 win over Sardis. The quarterback completed 3 of 5 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns (66 and 56 yards), also running for 134 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

Ryder Gipson, Fyffe: Gipson led Fyffe to a 42-10 win over Collinsville on Friday, racking up 186 yards and three touchdowns on 15 rushing attempts.
