Vote for the Cunningham Bounds Coastal player of Week 8

Check out the nominees for the Cunningham Bounds Coastal Alabama Football Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2023 high school football season.

Coaches can submit statistics following their games on Friday night or nominate players before noon each Saturday.

Nominations must come from a coach or official team statistician. They can be emailed to [email protected].

Voting is open until Wednesday morning. The winner will be announced on AL.com on Thursday.

Here are this week’s nominees:

Bishop Burkhalter, Spanish Fort: The junior linebacker returned a blocked field goal 88 yards for a touchdown and a punt 42 yards for a TD in the Toros win over McGill-Toolen.

J.J. Bush, Theodore: Bush intercepted a pair of Blount passes Thursday night to help the Bobcats shut out the Leopards 35-0.

EJ Crowell, Jackson: Crowell rushed for 113 yards and 3 TDs on just six carries and caught two passes for 46 yards and 2 TDs in the Aggies win at Satsuma.

Sammy Dunn, Bayside Academy: Dunn completed 12-of-13 passes for 209 yards, with touchdown passes of 17 and 65 yards to Tait Moore and 36 yards to Miles Uter.

JaMichael Garrett, Gulf Shores: The linebacker had a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown and added 6 tackles and 2.5 sacks in the Dolphins win at Elberta.

Jared Hollins, Mary G. Montgomery: The South Alabama commit passed for two touchdowns in the first half then ran for two in the second half to lead the No. 4. Vikings to a 35-14 win over No. 7 Baker. He finished 13-of-19 through the air for 201 yards.

KJ Lacey, Saraland: The Texas commit completed 10-of-13 passes for 198 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while also rushing for a touchdown in the No. 1 Spartans’ win over Baldwin County.

Ji Lang, Vigor: Lang had 16 tackles, 5 TFL, an interception, 2 sacks and 2 QB pressures in the Wolves’ shutout win over LeFlore.

Kolton Nero, Foley: Nero rushed for 289 yards and 3 TDs on 22 carries as Foley pulled away from Alma Bryant in the fourth quarter.

Amari Yelding, B.C. Rain: Yelding passed for 236 yards and 5 TDs as the Red Raiders defeated UMS-Wright in a Class 5A, Region 1 battle.
